Listening to the Lines on Paper: A Trauma-Informed Art Workshop (Parts 1 & 2)
This year marks the fourth year we are offering this workshop, which has become a highly popular and well-reviewed entry point into the deeper relational and experiential work we do in other workshops. It is designed to give participants accessible and practical ways to engage with complex trauma through art, while providing a safe space to explore both theoretical and experiential learning.
This is a two-part experiential workshop for mental health professionals.
Trauma often exists in pre-verbal states, limiting one's ability to engage in play. Art as a therapeutic intervention helps access trauma without words while reintroducing creativity and play.
Part 1: Foundations of Witnessing Trauma
Understanding art-based approaches in trauma work
Identifying dissociative trauma self-states and working with them through art & body maps
Introduction to Mindful Gauges
Creating safety & agency for trauma processing
Part 2: Deepening Trauma Work Through Art
Identifying and resourcing multiple self-states
Prioritizing which self-states to address in therapy
Applying Mindful Gauges in trauma work
Using drawing & craft techniques as tools in therapy (case examples & practice)
