Why this group
How do we make sense of something as painful as the death of a loved one?
Grieving follows no blueprint, no timeline. It leaves us feeling unmoored — isolated in a world that no longer makes sense. The only moments we feel truly understood are often with others who carry a similar loss. These fellow-grievers become the rare ones who “get” the weight of our sadness, who can echo our pain without needing it explained. This group is a space to explore what living on — not moving on — might look like, to ask how we go on in a world without them. We welcome your anger, sorrow, numbness, horror, helplessness, exhaustion — and yes, even your hope and humor. All of it belongs. All of it is part of grieving.
And while nothing makes this easy, it can be less lonely when shared with others who truly understand.
The therapist
Dr Nivida Chandra
I’ve been accompanying people through grief and bereavement for several years.
I see therapy as a place to slowly make meaning of this thing that happened — to find words for what feels unnameable, or simply to sit in silence while the reality of it washes over you.
Together, we stay with whatever arises. There’s no map, no attempt at ‘solving’ grief, no pressure to “move on” — only a shared effort to find what might support you through some of the hardest moments of your life.

Understanding group therapy at KindSpace
Who all will be in the group?
We want to ensure that those in the group are more likely to resonate with each other’s pain. At KindSpace, we usually bring together those with the loss of close relatives such as parents, children, siblings and spouses. The same people will attend the group each week.Is 75 minutes enough for all of us to share?
Usually. Occasionally, some people will share more than others. However, sometimes the session does spill over by 5-10 minutes. This is not charged extra. We do try to close on time as everyone can have appointments afterwards. The timeline of 12-15 months explained.
Grief has a funny way of hitting additionally hard when anniversaries roll by, such as birthdays or other significant events. The day, week and even month can feel inexplicably heave. We say 12 months to make sure we’re able to support everyone through at least one cycle of this experience. Further, we don’t close the group abruptly. We wean ourselves off by reducing the frequency of the group gently. This takes an additional 2-3 months, and we like to keep this open and go at the group’s pace.
Participants commit to the entire duration of the group.

Process & duration
1
Get in touch.
Fill the form below, or respond to an invitation to join a group, or simply write to us with your interest. Group therapy always begins with the individual assessment of potential participants.
We’ll set up an intake interview with you.
2
We’ll get back to you.
You may have been in individual or group therapy with us or another therapist before this experience. We assess if it is the right time for you to transition to a group environment, and which group cohort will be the right fit for you. Once we complete our intake process, we’ll get in touch with you to discuss the way forward.
3
Choose if you’d like to proceed.
If you agree to join the group, we’ll help you with all the information you need – from login information to some rules and guidelines that will help you make the most of your sessions with us.
A group only begins if the assessments reveal that a therapeutically cohesive cohort is possible. This can be difficult to bring together sometimes. Thus, despite you being a good fit, the group may not be able to begin. We will support you as you decide the next steps in your mental health journey.
Participants commit to the entire duration of the group.
This group may have people from different timezones. A final decision on the day and time will be based on the best possible option that accommodates everyone.
If group therapy is a new experience for you, please consider reading more about it here.
These are not support groups or listening circles; rather, these are time-limited, therapeutic groups that are led by psychotherapists. The highest standards of confidentiality are maintained even in group processes.
